Professor Gordon Smouther Ph.D Friday, March 5th, 11:30am
The Canada China Business Council, and the Rutgers Executive MBA Beijing Program is pleased to bring you a seminar on “Managing Risks in Global Supply Chains”. As global competition renders national boundaries irrelevant, supply chains, the life-blood for most industries, have become more complex. With the increased complexities have come increased risks. Risks for which most companies are unprepared. According to a survey by the consultancy, McKinsey and Company, most executives say supply chain risks are increasing. McKinsey says, "The executives most likely to say that their company''s level of risk has risen are those in retailing, manufacturing, and energy. Professional-services executives are the least likely to have seen an increase in risk, but even there, nearly half have done so. Executives at all levels share the view that risk is on the rise. This lecture will identify the risks in extended supply chains and suggest potential strategies for managing the risks. 11:30 – Registration (Light Buffet Lunch Included) About the Speaker Gordon Smouther is an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA. Professor Smouther has taught in the Supply Chain Management Department for 10 years and in the Rutgers Executive MBA program for the past four years. Gordon has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA degree.
